Lee Morgan

From the moment I witnessed the awe-inspiring spectacle of Jurassic Park as a five-year-old child, a lifelong passion for storytelling was ignited. That formative experience didn't just entertain me - it set the course for a career defined by cinematic ambition, emotional resonance, explorations of cultures worldwide and a relentless pursuit of visual excellence.

Over the past decade plus, I have cultivated a diverse and dynamic portfolio that spans continents, visual styles and genres. My directorial journey has taken me from the sun-drenched vineyards of France, to the bustling streets of New York City. From lively, historic Madrid, to the serene landscapes of Japan.

One thing remains true wherever I find myself in the world – a drive to craft compelling, captivating and honest documentaries and narrative films.

At the heart of my filmmaking philosophy lies a commitment to collaboration and authenticity. As stated, I believe that the magic of cinema truly emerges when diverse talents and minds converge, each voice contributing to a harmonious whole where everyone is at equal footing. I ensure this ethos permeates through to set, where I take great care to foster environments where creativity thrives and stories come alive with genuine emotion, an often naturalistic style and cinematic flair.

Whether navigating the intricacies of narrative fiction or delving into the depths of documentary storytelling, I remain steadfast in my mission: to craft films that resonate, inspire, and transcend boundaries. Films that grab a viewer’s attention and imagination, and challenge their perception of the world, whilst not leading them to arrive at a predetermined opinion on any given subject.

I feel my work stands as a testament to the power of storytelling, gently reminding audiences everywhere of the universal threads that connect us all.

Back home in the UK, my sharp wit and keen eye for human nuance have shone through in a series of award-winning comedy shorts, celebrated across numerous film festivals for their originality and ensemble brilliance.

Collaboration is a key factor for me in any production. Building a like-minded family of sorts, people who love what they do and who gel well together to form a cohesive whole. This, I believe, is the secret sauce to a successful production.

I’ve been lucky enough to learn such lessons through some excellent collaborations in my career so far. These include the likes of streaming giant Netflix, creative endeavours with Andy Serkis’ Imaginarium Motion Capture studio, and projects alongside acclaimed cinematographer John Mathieson. My versatility and dedication to existing in both documentary and narrative worlds of film are further evidenced by productions for Channel 4, the British Sign Language Broadcasting Trust, and global brands Vogue and UPS.
